Welcoming the 2025-26 InteGRATE Fellows

The Lee Research Group is delighted to welcome the newly selected 2025–2026 cohort of InteGRATE Fellows who will represent the University of Memphis and the United States in advancing global energy research and collaboration.

Funded by the National Science Foundation’s International Research Experiences for Students (IRES) program, InteGRATE (International Grid Research and Advanced Training in Energy) is an immersive international research and training initiative that connects U.S. students with world-class researchers at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Over the next year, the Fellows will engage in cutting-edge research in clean energy systems, grid integration, and sustainable power technologies through collaborative projects spanning Memphis and Munich.

We are proud to introduce this year’s cohort (last name alphabetical order):

  • David Braese, mentored by Dr. Alexander Headley
  • Jennifer Farler, mentored by Dr. Alexander Headley
  • Jayce Fiene, co-mentored by Dr. Yong Hoon Lee and Dr. Alexander Headley
  • Madison Galloway, mentored by Dr. Yong Hoon Lee
  • Benjamin Wise, mentored by Dr. Mohammadreza Davoodi

Each Fellow will collaborate with faculty mentors to design a personalized research project focused on critical areas, such as smart grid control, hydrogen energy systems, power electronics, and grid-integrated energy storage. In summer 2026, the Fellows will travel to Munich, Germany for a 10–12 week research residency at TUM for real-world testing and innovation.

Beyond research, the InteGRATE experience provides professional development, mentorship, and full financial support, allowing Fellows to attend international conferences, participate in cultural excursions, and build lasting global networks that bridge science, technology, and policy.

The InteGRATE program embodies the University of Memphis’ commitment to training globally minded engineers ready to address complex energy challenges through cross-border collaboration. We are confident that our new Fellows will bring creativity, dedication, and leadership to this transformative international experience. Please join us in congratulating our 2025–2026 InteGRATE Fellows. We look forward to an exciting year of discovery, collaboration, and innovation.
